What is Mānuka honey?
New Zealand Mānuka honey is produced by bees collecting nectar from the Mānuka plant (Leptospermum scoparium).
Mānuka Honey is world renowned for its increased antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Mānuka plants can be found growing throughout New Zealand.
Why is the colour sometimes slightly different between batches?
The active mānuka honey used in Bee Kiwi is 100% natural, and therefore, subject to New Zealand’s variation of climate, including location, soil, moisture and floral types.
Some areas of New Zealand produce lighter honey and others produce darker honey.
For these reasons the honey colour and texture can vary from region to region. The colour of honey can also change naturally due to storage conditions and age.
Please understand that the colour and consistency of each batch of honey may vary due to the natural variations, and this will impact on the appearance of the Bee Kiwi products.
How is Bee Venom Extracted?
When extracting bee venom, New Zealand bee keepers make sure that these honey bees are unharmed during the process.
Once the bees land on the bee-friendly low volt electrical plate with the light current, their natural instinct compels them to deposit bee venom without losing their barbed stinger (so they all stay alive and healthy).
After these bees have made their deposits they return to their day jobs in the hive until the next collection day.
For peace of mind, we can assure you that New Zealand suppliers of Bee Venom all follow the most ethical practices to ensure the bees are kept safe and well.
